.. 'swapinfo -ta' would have been better !
.. Is the msg reported for different PIDs?
.. did the system Panic? if yes, then use Q4 to do a trace & send the results to the response center.

Nevertheless, looks like system ran out of the virtual space. I would suggest to double the swap space used - (twice as much as the RAM).

.. you need to investigate more on your processes, partically the total virtual space used by each process. If the above suggestion didn't fix the issue, consider to logg in an ITRC call with the Response Center for further problem isolation.

T++

Hi,

The system process 'mib2agt' is the classic HP-UX 11.00 memory leaker.

Either patch PHSS_21046 or the newer PHSS_23670 fixes it.

Regards,
John

You are getting the error because you are somewhat low on memory because you are swapping some. The combination of what you have left in reserve and swap space is not enough to allocate for new processes.

You need to either add more swap.
add more memory.

or

Find out what is using the memory/swap. I have been able to increase the size of the Oracle SGA or SAP shared memory parms. This allocates more memory up front but lets the applications store more memory before it needs to swap or allocate more memory.

I am not sure what applications your are running on your machine or if you use shared memory?

Just some things I have ran into.

Hi Shripad,

I would be interested to see what's the size of your new process is. Your system is obvioulsy running short of memory. And everytime, you start a new process, the system will reserve space in the swap and looking at your swapinfo you have got only 340MB of free swap left. If by any change, the reserve required to open the process is more than 340MB, it will throw away.

So, I suggest you increase your memory a bit so that the swap utilization on your device swaps will become less.

And also the other suggestions like updating new mib2agt, diagnostics are also worth considering.

-Sri
