Installation of HP-UX 11i Version 2 Foundation Operating Environment (DVD)

We are trying to load HP-UX 11i Version 2 (DVD) from the Foundation Operating Environment (Disk 1). We are receiving the following error:

BOOT
:disk (8/16/5/2.0.0.0.0.0.;0):INSTALL
disk ((8/16/5/2.0.0.0.0.0.;0)INSTALL: cannot open, or not executable. EXEC Failed: No such file or directory.

We have verified the location and drive specifics. HELP!

It sounds like you have a bad DVD. Do you have another copy somewhere? I would consider requesting a new one from HP.

Shalom,

Either its bad media or you have a DVD in a non-DVD drive. Take a look at the drive. It will say DVD on it if it can read that media.

This release is available in non-dvd format.

We have tried to launch this from two different systems, each with their own DVD drive. When we put the DVD into a Windows box, we can read the DVD.

The fact that windows can read it does not mean much.

What type of DVD drives are attached to the HP-UX systems? Are they HP drives? Are they internal or external?

What model is your system? My guess is that it is a CD drive rather than a DVD drive. Have you also tried to mount some other DVD or CD in that drive?

According to the ioscan the drives are HP DVD-ROM 304. Both are internal drives.

Those should work then.

I would contact HP and request a replacement DVD.

HP has been contacted, we are awaiting the new DVD's. Thank you all for responding so quickly.
