I lost my password workstation B180L

Hi,

I have a workstation model B180L with the HPUX 10.20 and I'm trying change the password for root, but I'm not have success. I tried the following steps:
1) Boot in single user:
* boot pri ipl
* IPL > hpux -is
Note: The system operation initiates boot, but i asked for the password

2) Boot in single user:
* boot pri ipl
* IPL > hpux -lm (mode maintenance)
Note:
it continues asking for the password, that is, I do not obtain to get prompt to modify the password.

3) Boot in single user:
* boot pri ipl
* IPL > hpux -isl
Note: I tried a lot of time, but no success.

Please, can somebody help me?

Hi,
suspect you have password protected single user mode. You must boot off a Core OS cd and null out the password section of root user in /etc/passwd.

I am trying to make one boot for the CD (install) but the only options that I have are:
-----------------
INSTALL HPUX

RUNNING A SHELL

ADVANCED OPTIONS

HELP
------------------
I tried the option "RUNNING A SHELL", but I'm not using this option. Do you have any howto this?

Hi Claudemir,

power off your system
remove the disk and network connection.
power on your system in the boot mode screen
type> con
type> sec off
power off
reconnect the disk and network
power on
Boot into single user mode
# mount -a
# vi /etc/passwd
and remove the encrypted password for the root user.
# shutdown -r -y now

Hi,

Do you have ssh or remsh configured for any other server to this workstation

login to this server through rlogin or ssh and change the password. it may prompt u the old pass, in that case

vi /tcb/files/auth/r/root

remove passsword filed and save the file

now u would be able to change the password.
