allow for large files

Hi. We are creating a new logical volume. We are going to use a directory on this new logical volume as a place to back up our server system images to. Do we need to set the file system to "allow large files" ?

Can anyone please advise?

Short answer - yes

I enable large files on all FS - just because I have had to go back and change them too many times.

It depends how big your backup files are.
I set the allow large file option where my oracle databases reside.

Yes, as long as the application you are using for backing up the server system images can read/write largefiles.
