Shalom,

The remote file system message means usually you are trying to install off an NFS mount and have lost access. See that networking is properly configured and that all connections function.

Note: Ximian Gnome is pretty dated as compared to Linux. It uses a ton of disk space.

SEP

Hi Mohammed,

This what I think, but I can not confirm it without the complete error message.

"cannot access remote file" is this a new install? This looks like a hostname/ipaddress conflict similar to this case.

http://www1.itrc.hp.com/service/cki/docDisplay.do?docLocale=en_US&docId=200000081616671

Title: Installing Data Protector gives "Cannot Access Remote File"
Document ID: OV-EN019915

Regards,
Robert-Jan

I had the same problem two weeks ago. In my case I had configured the system name to be associated with only lan1 and not lan0 in /etc/hosts (this system is not in DNS). swinstall failed every time. Once I had changed the hosts file so that the system name was associated with lan0, swinstall worked fine.
