The basic problem could be your DISPLAY Environment variable not being set.
Set the display variable to ipaddress:0.0

Or

You can launch ugweb directly from the browser by entering http://<MACHINE_NAME>:2301
This will log on to system management homepage(SMH). specify root uname and pwd.
click on users and groups area.

-Keshava bharadwaj
http://keshavabharadwaj.googlepages.com</MACHINE_NAME>

I installed SMH and got the basic SM Homepage. After a bit digging about I found I needed the HPUXBaseAux of December 2005 installed (not installed by default). I now have a whole host of things in SMH but still missing the Accounts for Users and Groups. When I ran ugweb from the command line I got the following error

ugweb(1M) could not start the Accounts for Users and Groups web interface.
Ensure the following fileset(s) are installed and configured on the machine
to successfully start the Accounts for Users and Groups web interface.

UsersAndGroups.WEB
SysMgmtWeb.SysMgmtHomepage.SMH-RUN
SysMgmtWeb.SysMgmtHomepage.SMH-UILIB
SysMgmtWeb.SysMgmtHomepage.SMH-UILIB-COM

But checking these are installed I found that I have them all.

pluto# swlist -l fileset | grep UsersAndGroups.WEB
UsersAndGroups.WEB B.11.23.01 HP-UX Accounts Management Tool Web Interface

pluto# swlist -l fileset | grep SysMgmtHomepage
# SysMgmtHomepage A.2.2.5 HP-UX System Management Homepage - Web-Based User Interfaces
SysMgmtHomepage.SMH-DOC A.2.2.5 HP-UX System Management Homepage Help
SysMgmtHomepage.SMH-DOC-COM A.2.2.5 HP-UX System Management Homepage Help
SysMgmtHomepage.SMH-PPAGES A.2.2.5 HP-UX System Management Homepage Property Pages
SysMgmtHomepage.SMH-PPAGES-COM A.2.2.5 HP-UX System Management Homepage Property Pages (common files)
SysMgmtHomepage.SMH-RUN A.2.2.5 HP-UX System Management Homepage Runtime Core
SysMgmtHomepage.SMH-SAMLOG A.2.2.5 HP-UX System Management Homepage LogViewer Web Application
SysMgmtHomepage.SMH-UILIB A.2.2.5 HP-UX System Management Homepage User Interface Library
SysMgmtHomepage.SMH-UILIB-COM A.2.2.5 HP-UX System Management Homepage User Interface Library (common files)
SysMgmtHomepage.SMH-XLAUNCH A.2.2.5 HP-UX System Management Homepage Xlaunch Web Application

Is there anything I'm missing that may have screwed this up ? Is it possible to install this in the wrong order or anything ?

Another update in hope that someone will know whats going on....

I found that by exporting the DISPLAY and running ugweb in F mode (ugweb -f) to force less secure way of running, I can get SMH to start but I still see nothing in the Homepage to create users & groups etc.

When I do similar on a newly installed box, the SMH starts and the options/table exists to create users and groups etc.

What version are you running (HP-UX). I think the ugweb is only available for 11 v2 or newer.

I don't get it on my 11.11 systems but I do on my 11.23 systems.

I'm not sure if this is of any help, but SMH 2.2.5 did not work well with us so we installed 2.2.6 w/ 11.31. We had application problems so we went back to 11.23, but kept the SMH 2.2.6 We are having good results managing servers remotely through SMH w/ minimal training for support personnel.

Some problems we are seeing still are:
CPU shows 400MHz rather than 1.6 GHz sx2000 chips.
Agent installed on the server does not show up on the list on the homepage.

Turns out Users and Groups doesn't appear if your system is in trusted mode. As I had just set up one of the servers I presume I hadn't set it into trusted mode yet so thats why it was displaying in SMH.

http://docs.hp.com/en/5992-2330/ch05s16.html

I have since trusted this server and it it no longer displayed.
