Will installing older patch overwrite newer patch?

If I accidently install an older version of an existing patch, will it overwrite newer patch?

Is there an option in swinstall to stop newer patch from being overwritten?

It shouldn't install the patch. It should state that a superseded patch is already installed.

Hi:

Normally, 'swinstall' will not install a patch that has been superceded by another so unless you force a reinstallation (with '-x reinstall=true) you can't do this.

The proper way to patch means that you let 'swinstall' save the previous patch (the default). Then, if you wish to rollback, your remove the newer patch with 'swremove' and the predecesor is restored.
