when i try to install network ploter hp design jet 1050 form hp jetdirect admin utility BOOTP/TFTP atfter enter
printer's LAN hardware address: 0030C1D41676it given error

Enter the printer's LAN hardware address: 0030C1D41676

Probing the hardware interface for identity. This could
take few seconds....
Problem encountered during this process which could be one of the following

1] The device is not in the network
2] The device is already configured with another IP address,
(thro DHCP/BOOTP), Remove it and start again.
3] Hardware interface is not an official HP Jetdirect

Take a test page of the Jetdirect from the printer.
If you see no IP address assigned, or if it is 0.0.0.0,
wait for around 5 minutes. It will default to
192.0.0.192(if it is HP jet direct) This will help in
identifying the Hardware interface and continuing.

Hello Sandeep,

well, what is about the questions, that have been printed out?

Is there a IP-Adress altready assigned to the MAC-adress?

Exactly what kind of Jet-Direct-Hardware do you use?

Is the MAC-Adress allready in use on any other equipment in your network?

Do you run a WINDOWS or UNIX (use linkloop 0xMAC-ADDR to try to reach it from any UNIX-Client) environment?

i am install ploter on unix system & JetDirect Printer Installer for UNIX Version E.10.34. Ploter is having statics ip address 192.9.208.226 & Mac address 0030C1D41676.

what is the result of the command

linkloop 0x0030C1D41676

do you gett sucess- or errormessages?
Can you ping the IP-Adress?
after pinging , do you see the IP-Nummber or MAC-Adress in your ARP-Table, when executing "arp -a"?

Hello Sandeep

that sound fine.
I expect, that the arp-table holds the propper IP-Number together with the MAC-adress.

If you can loginto the JetAdmin either by telnet or connect by web, then the JetDirect is already configured. Parehabs by any DHCP-Server.

In this case, you do not need to configure it directly. However, you should be able to configure it. Try conecting the JetDirect and the PC th a seperate network.

Try to configure the JetDirect using the WEB-interface, telnet or the JetDirect Software. But be aware, that it is very difficult to completely remove the JetDirect software from any PC, where it once has been installed.

I try to configuraction ploter directly on unix system thorough sam. Thiesr is no dhcp server in our network all are static ip.
