      <description>I am trying to extend my filesystem and do have enough space from the output of vgdisplay &lt;BR /&gt;--- Volume groups ---&lt;BR /&gt;VG Name                     /dev/vg00&lt;BR /&gt;VG Write Access             read/write&lt;BR /&gt;VG Status                   available&lt;BR /&gt;Max LV                      255&lt;BR /&gt;Cur LV                      14&lt;BR /&gt;Open LV                     14&lt;BR /&gt;Max PV                      16&lt;BR /&gt;Cur PV                      4&lt;BR /&gt;Act PV                      4&lt;BR /&gt;Max PE per PV               4350&lt;BR /&gt;VGDA                        8&lt;BR /&gt;PE Size (Mbytes)            8&lt;BR /&gt;Total PE                    17360&lt;BR /&gt;Alloc PE                    7329&lt;BR /&gt;Free PE                     10031&lt;BR /&gt;Total PVG                   0&lt;BR /&gt;Total Spare PVs             0&lt;BR /&gt;Total Spare PVs in use      0&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;however if i try to extend the lv using lvextend I get this error&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;root@appqimux#lvextend -L 10000 /dev/vg00/hold&lt;BR /&gt;lvextend: Not enough free physical extents available.&lt;BR /&gt;Logical volume "/dev/vg00/hold" could not be extended.&lt;BR /&gt;Failure possibly caused by contiguous allocation policy.&lt;BR /&gt;Failure possibly caused by strict allocation policy&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Any work around this contiguous issues?&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;thanks</description>

      <description>You also want to display the lv attributes with lvdisplay [ -v ]&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Anyway...&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Try: lvchange -C n&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;See it's manpage for details.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;hth,&lt;BR /&gt;Hein.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;</description>

      <description>Thanks lvchange -C n allowed me to extend it however I got this message which I don't know if it will cause any problem once I unmount and remount my filesystem. My guess is that it shouldn't as I will not be booting from this second disk.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;lvlnboot: LIF information corrupt or not present on  "/dev/dsk/c2t1d0".&lt;BR /&gt;Use the "mkboot" command to initialize the LIF area.&lt;BR /&gt;</description>
