Hi HPUX Gurus,

Please advise with these errors I receive while applying the GOLDQPK patch release June 2007. However while im previewing the installation of patch into my systems and found from the logs, I see these few same errors from each others as follows:

ERROR: Could not apply the software selection "PHNE_35453" because
one of its dependencies would supersede a patch that has
already been selected.
ERROR: Could not apply the software selection "PHNE_35351" because
one of its dependencies would supersede a patch that has
already been selected.

ERROR: The dependencies for fileset "PHNE_35351.CORE2-KRN,r=1.0"
cannot be resolved (see previous lines).
You must resolve the above dependencies before operating on
this fileset or change the "enforce_dependencies" option to
"false".
The corequisite "PHKL_34173.CORE2-KRN,fa=HP-UX_B.11.11_64" for
fileset "PHNE_35453.STREAMS2-KRN,r=1.0" cannot be successfully
resolved.
The corequisite "PHKL_34100.CORE2-KRN,fa=HP-UX_B.11.11_64" for
fileset "PHNE_35453.STREAMS2-KRN,r=1.0" cannot be successfully
resolved.
ERROR: The dependencies for fileset "PHNE_35453.STREAMS2-KRN,r=1.0"
cannot be resolved (see previous lines).
You must resolve the above dependencies before operating on
this fileset or change the "enforce_dependencies" option to
"false".
The corequisite "PHNE_35183.NET-RUN,fa=HP-UX_B.11.11_32/64"
for fileset "PHNE_32825.INETSVCS-BOOT,r=1.0" cannot be
successfully resolved.
The corequisite "PHNE_35351.CORE2-KRN,fa=HP-UX_B.11.11_32 |
PHNE_35183.CORE2-KRN,fa=HP-UX_B.11.11_64" for fileset
"PHNE_32825.INETSVCS-BOOT,r=1.0" cannot be successfully
resolved.

Kindly please advise what to do to fix this errors.

Your prompt reply is highly appreciated.

Thanks and regards,
Alfred

Are you using the GUI or the CLI with "*" for everything?

>WK: These errors look normal to me.

Since they are errors, Alfred has to do something to get by them.
>I installed the GOLDQPK from SAM

Perhaps doing it from the command line with Bob's suggestion of "-x patch_match_target=true":
http://forums1.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/questionanswer.do?threadId=1160327

>What is the good practice, initially install the GOLDQPK if there's a new version of it then follow the OS patch?

You can combine both into one depot and install both at the same time. Downloading multiple patches provides a create_depot_hp-ux_11 script to do this.

Dear Adam,

Please check the pre-requisits first. If there is a patch which is a required as pre-requist. install that first and they apply the bundle patch. this will be more clean way to install the patch. System will be stable and error free.

Shardha

I installed GOLDQPK Dec 2007. Then when I try to install PHNE_35453 and PHNE_35351, i hit the following errors
The corequisite "PHNE_35351.NET-RUN,fa=HP-UX_B.11.11_32/64"
for fileset "PHNE_35453.STREAMS2-KRN,r=1.0" cannot be
successfully resolved.
ERROR: The dependencies for fileset "PHNE_35453.STREAMS2-KRN,r=1.0"
cannot be resolved (see previous lines).
You must resolve the above dependencies before operating on
this fileset or change the "enforce_dependencies" option to
"false".

Is the solution 'swcopy both patches together'? Or do I need to install the patches?

Appreciate your swift response.Many thanks.

And if needed, add a link to this one.

Yes, you should swcopy both patches to one depot and install both at the same time. (You might be able to install PHNE_35351 first but why reboot twice?)
