    <description>Hello:&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Could you verify the permissions of bdf?, it should look like this:&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;ll /usr/bin/bdf&lt;BR /&gt;-r-sr-xr-x   1 root       bin          56932 May 19  2005 /usr/bin/bdf&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;If it hasn't active the setuid bit, it's possible that for a normal user fails to lock mnttab.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Regards;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;J.       <description>Hi ,&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;As a mormal user when i try bdf , i get the below error...&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;bdf: unable to lock /etc/mnttab after 100 tries&lt;BR /&gt;bdf: /etc/mnttab: Permission denied&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Any suggestions.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;</description>

      <description>&lt;BR /&gt;Hi ,&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Login as root and do &lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;# mv /etc/mnttab /etc/mnttab.old&lt;BR /&gt;# mountall&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;it may fix ur issue .&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Aneesh</description>

      <description>&lt;BR /&gt;logaraman,&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt; If you are using  11.23, make you install PHKL_31500 Sept04 base patch &lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;( SR:8606365017 CR:JAGaf25654 )&lt;BR /&gt;bdf(1M) locks /etc/mnttab and holds the lock when the&lt;BR /&gt;filesystem is not responding.&lt;BR /&gt;Resolution:&lt;BR /&gt;bdf(1M) now locks /etc/mnttab only while creating a list of&lt;BR /&gt;mount entries.  With the created list of entries, individual&lt;BR /&gt;stats are done on the filesystems.  This avoids holding a&lt;BR /&gt;lock on /etc/mnttab even when a filesystem is not&lt;BR /&gt;responding.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;WK</description>
