starting apache tomcat

Hi all,

I have Apache tomcat 4.1 on HP-UX B.11,
I started apache httpd and tomcat before, after that i set user www password then I locked that user, then I enabled it again.

When I try to start tomcat as www user it doesn't start up.
I started tomcat with root user without problem.

I am new to HP-UX and no one help me here.

what error message your are receiving when trying to strat tomcat with www user?

Shalom,

If you got the software from http://software.hp.com, the startup scripts are /sbin/init.d/hpws_apache and hpws_tomcat

There are auto start configuration files using the same naming convention in /etc/rc.config.d
Set the first variable to 1.

Also, check the httpd.conf (/opt/hpws/) to find out what user is intended for starting the apache daemon.

Hi all,

my broblem came because of setting user 'www''s password.

after I set up user 'www''s password, I try to do many things to undo my fault, and after what I thought it will fix the broblem, I ended with tomcat could not be started from console.

I use telnet to talk to server, I'am not talking about starting tomcat at system startup, thanks again.
