Hello,

I have rx6600 server, I have configured the server and it’s on production now, today I was trying to configure the tape drives, I have MSL6000 tape library with 4 Ultrium 2 tape drives, I have configured the zoning and add server FC's with NSR FC's in a same zone, as I do usually to any new server.

Problem that when I go back to the server and try "ioscan -fC tape" nothing happened, it seems that my server is not detecting the tape drives.

Model: rx6600
OS: HP-UX UMREVTST B.11.23 U ia64

Many thanks

Shalom,

Wild idea.

That server ships with a smart card adaptec raid array. There appears to be a compatible scsi connector on the card. It does not support the ultrium drive.

You need an add in card for this that does not ship with the server.

SEP

Here are the devices:

0/5/1/0/4/0.2.11.255.0.0.0 unknown HP
MSL6000 Series
0/5/1/0/4/0.2.11.255.0.0.1 unknown HP
Ultrium 2-SCSI
0/5/1/0/4/0.2.11.255.0.0.2 unknown HP
Ultrium 2-SCSI

All you need to do is to add the drivers "stape" for the tapes and "schgr" for the library to your kernel, built a new kernel and reboot.

Example:

# kcmodule stape=static
