Hi,

Startup scripts in hpux are all about following files. Make sure that only necessary files are in /sbin/rc2.d, /sbin/rc3.d, and /sbin/rc4.d. These files are hard links to /sbin/init.d.
HPUX use /etc/inetd.conf file to read which services to start. If you don't want particular process to start then simply remove relevant startup script from above mentioned directory/ies.

Hope it helps.

Hi Shashi

It depends.

most of the services, which activated while booting resides in /etc/rc.config.d folder.

Sprcify your exact problem.

With default installation of HP-Ux 11.23, it starts so many unwanted services. I think I need to look at /etc/inetd.conf for any inetd based services and /etc/rc.config.d directory for any standalone services. Am I correct ?
Also, If you are looking out for temporary solution like if you wanna stop service (for a reason its getting hung)while boot it then look at this thread:

Skip over startup script when booting..
http://forums11.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/questionanswer.do?threadId=1150047
