Performing very simple adminsiatrative tasks. Mounted a DVD to load some software. Loaded software and unmounted DVD. DVD will not eject when button is pressed on front of tray. No green light. I've tried mounting and unmounting several times (which are fine) but still can't get the tray to open. I've never had this issue with HP equipment before. I'm having to reboot the server to get the DVD out and these DVD's do not have the hole in front that you can stick a paperclip in and force open.

Not sure if this idea is even worth zero points :(

Maybe time for a hardware call to your HP service provider ? HUD

It appears to be crappy hardware. I had to reboot the server 3 times before the tray would respond to the eject button.

I only assigned 0 points because you can't unmount a directory if someone is in it. You get the "device busy" error. I stated that I was able to unmount and mount just fine.

I'm not looking to start an argument. I'm very disappointed if this is indeed hardware related. And the fact that it is happening on TWO different servers that I had to load software on today (these both are new...about 7 months old) is unacceptable.

These servers are critical to our environment and I am not in a position to load software from a DVD in the future, only to reboot several times before the DVD is responsive once again. I'll run some more DVD's through it tomorrow. If I run into the same issue, I will place a hardware call.

Hi Mike

Do you have EMC SAN attached?

This is necessary to know if you use EMC SAN coz DVD ejection problem has seen maximum in if there is EMC SAN attached system.

Yes, it was PowerPath. Did some more searching and found that with our version PP 5.1 on HPUX 11.11 it will cause the DVD to hang unless the powermt config command is run before trying to eject the DVD. I have just received the hotfix from EMC.

Sorry about the zero point scandle. Didn't know it's a huge deal to issue zero points.
