Hi. I have a ia64 Supedome Server with Integrity VM 3.00 as I show.

T2767AC A.03.00 Integrity VM
VMGuestLib A.03.00.76 Integrity VM Guest Support Libraries
VMKernelSW A.02.00 Integrity VM Kernel Software
VMMGR A.03.00.00.05 HP Integrity VM Manager
VMMigrate A.03.00 Integrity VM Migration Bundle
VMProvider A.03.00.76 WBEM Provider for Integrity VM

I installed two different VM guests running HPUX 11iv3 and since that moment, this guests started to panic and reboot. An HP expert told me I had to update my version of Integrity VM to 3.5 and I have been looking at some guides for doing this, and here is my question:

When the guide says I have to have HPUX 11.23 with a revision of December 07 or later, and I have 11.23 of September 07, and installed the SupportPlus0712, even after this I have to make an update of the BASE OS? The expert told me to do that, but I have my doubts now.

FEATURE11i B.11.23.0712.070 Feature Enablement Patches for HP-UX 11i v2, December 2007
HPUX11i-OE-MC B.11.23.0706 HP-UX Mission Critical Operating Environment Component
HPUXBaseAux B.11.23.0706 HP-UX Base OS Auxiliary
HPUXBaseOS B.11.23 HP-UX Base OS
HWEnable11i B.11.23.0712.070 Hardware Enablement Patches for HP-UX 11i v2, December 2007
QPKAPPS B.11.23.0712.070a Applications Patches for HP-UX 11i v2,December 2007
QPKBASE B.11.23.0712.070a Base Quality Pack Bundle for HP-UX 11iv2,December 2007

So, updating 11.23 September 07 to 11.23 December 07 is the same as installing the patch bundles that came out in December 07?

At least from the installer point of view it is not the same. It requires the december version.

The tool and procedure needed is update-ux.

Install this from the OS DVD media and refer to the installation manual of hp-ux 11.23.

Hi Torsten. Yhanks for the reply. Just a last question. As I know now I have to do an update, is better to do a cold install or to do the update-ux?
I have installed as you saw the Mission Critical for September 07, and I got the Foundation Operating Enviroment for December 07, could work the updtae-ux from MC to FOE?
Thanks in advance

Hi,

As far as i know, It may not work.

Becoz, we wont get updated filesets of Mirrordisk/UX, Online JFS,etc ( which are available in MC OE) in Foundation OE.

Best Regards,
Ramesh

A "downgrade" from MC to FOE is IMHO not possible, but why not do an update-ux from september version to december?

Backup the system before you start!
