Patch question

My dba wants me to download and install to our PA-Risc system:
PHSS_32502

When I look at the readme I get:
Filesets:
OS-Core.CORE2-64SLIB,fr=B.11.23,fa=HP-UX_B.11.23_IA,v=HP
OS-Core.CORE2-SHLIBS,fr=B.11.23,fa=HP-UX_B.11.23_IA,v=HP

Does this mean it is for Itanium boxes only.

I'm not 100% sure, But to me it does look like a patch for IA64 Itanium.

Yes, this patch is definitely for servers with Itanium CPUs only.

The description of the patch, "s700_800 11.23 Aries cumulative patch", is also a good clue as Aries is an Itanium only feature.

FYI -- Aries allows for execution of PA-RISC compiled programs on Itanium servers.

Hi:

Yes, this is an Itamium server patch only. The patch description alone ("s700_800 11.23 Aries cumulative patch") would suggest that, since Aries is a component of Itanium systems that allows PA-RISC code to execute on Itanium platforms:

As such, the patch isn't applicable to PA-RISC servers and 'swinstall' will reject it for installation thereon.

You might want to ask why this was requested?
It may be related to naively looking at the dependency info on a linker patch. See my reply in this thread for details:
