I have a system which mysteriously started crashing on the boot. The console errors are below. Am I able to recover without reinstalling?

Shalom,

Looks like either a bad disk or a firmware issue.

Did the system work before? If so, what changed?

Check the event logs in the GSP/ilo card for more information.

It's a BL870c blade server. It was up and running. Someone may have updated the FW. How would I undo that if that's the case?

Looks similar to a rx2620, but not exactly.

What is it?

I cannot see any disk in the output.

What do you get from EFI?

I am not challenging that a FW update went bad if that is what happened.

The messages looks to me like a corrupt or failing boot disk ( cannot find swap, cannot find drivers ). or maybe someone whacked a bunch of OS files.

Is there a Mirror you can boot from ?

otherwise try to boot your ignite image which I am sure you have ?

or IF a FW update was done and now the system will not boot then HP probably needs to be involved if a backrev is possbible

Or reapply the FW update if possible ??

Looks like there are 2 bootable internal sas drives.

Try

Shell> fs1:

fs1:\> cd efi

fs1:\EFI> cd hpux

fs1:\EFI\HPUX> hpux

for both, fs1 and fs0!

Yes it worked before. I'm not sure if it's mirrored or not, it was setup by HP.
I can start the loader.

Unfortunately I have no 11.31 to compare, but it looks like the /stand directory is there - so let's try to boot into single user mode:

HPUX> boot vmunix -is

or LVM maintenance mode

HPUX> boot vmunix -lm

Does this work?

It doesn't boot into LVM, so I'm assuming it won't boot into single user mode either.

Try it anyway, but maybe there is something corrupted (kernel/file system ...).

You don't have a backup kernel, so you should consider to restore a backup.
