Hi All,

We are not able to detect luns after rebooting the RP5470 server. The disks are from Disk array 2300 and connected through internal raid controller. I am able to see the luns through irdiag and irm. but target and disks are not detected by OS.

Thanks

George

i've encounter this twice last year.

My bet is the A5846A RAID 4si adapter.

Run `irdiag -v` to check the adapter. If not detected, then i suggest replace it. Don't worry, all the disks configuration (luns and raid) will still intact and detectable by the adapter.

Rgds

Strange - all disks and logical drives are online.

On some disks are a lot of defective sectors and there are media failures reported.

This could be related.

I would try to reset the server (power cycle) and see what happens. Inspect the disks, maybe you need to replace some of them (SCSI Device 0:4 looks really bad, SCSI Device 0:1 too).
Contact the support if you need help.

Ya .. I have tried to shutdown the server and also reconnected the scsi cables.. now some of the disks are showing failed and all the luns are offline. Attached the irdiag -v ouput.

George

Hi,

This is a nightmare situation if this server holds some critical applications. But from the details attached I do not see any reason why this many disks will fail at the same time.

Either there is some faulty cables or controller itself is faulty. I do not advise to replace disks prior to involving support to fix this.

HTH,
Devender

Hi Guys,

Its a worst situation for me now.. After replacing the 4si raid controller , we went to irm,view/add config .. but it is not giving any option to read it from disk.. just showing all the disks are ready... Is there any thing else we can try to get the luns back??

George

Hi Guys,

The issue is solved. I made online all the failed disks from irm objects disks from the old 4si raid card and replaced the card with new one..as per the help from HP SC Bangalore. Now i got all the disks online and everything got back..

And one more thing all these issue happened because of a power failure.

Thanks Guys

George
