Cannot remsh server

Dear All,

I am on the process of ignite ux. So when am trying to use the following command i am getting the below error.

make_sys_image -d /var/opt/ignite/archives/Rel_B.11.23 -s iam
* Preparing to create a system archive.
* Testing for necessary pax patch.
* Passed pax tests.
ERROR: Cannot remsh server iam (check server .rhosts file).

What i have to do now?

Hi,

Check the .rhosts file on server if it includes iam entry.

Yes i have .rhosts file in both the servers in the following format.

IAMeTUnixACP:root-/>cat /.rhosts
root ipmsapp5
IAMeTUnixACP:root-/>

ipmsapp5:root-/tmp>cat /.rhosts
iam root
ipmsapp5:root-/tmp>

The format of the rhosts file is

[hostname [username]] [#comment]

Now compare

IAMeTUnixACP:root-/>cat /.rhosts
root ipmsapp5

This is

username host

Switch this!

check the righs of .rhosts usually rw-r--r-- (644) or 640.

Check syslog of the peer system.

compare with your other server you need to put the entry like below

Sorry now i have edited the .rhosts file in iam

hostname username

Its started now but i am getting one more error

the other entry:

ipmsapp5:root-/tmp>cat /.rhosts
iam root

Check if the hostname is really "iam".

# hostname

did you create the directory in the path like below
/var/opt/ignite/archives/Rel_B.11.23

check and verify that the path is correct.

Hi,

You are giving access to the other system to your system. So,
on ipmsapp5:
cat /.rhosts
IAMeTUnixACP root

On IAMeTUnixACP:
cat /.rhosts
ipmsapp5 root

If you can ping the other hostname from each system by using hostname, then it should be ok. It depends also on your name service switch (nsswitch) configuration (hosts, dns, etc) and reverse lookup.

The easy way is to from ipmsapp5 logon in the IAMeTUnixACP system and type who -R and get the correct name of ipmsapp5 (may be it might show ip or alias name) and put that info in the .rhosts file. The host IAMeTUnixACP knows ipmsapp5 with that name or ip.

What version of ignite you are using on the ignite server and the client.

Run the below command on both servers:

swlist -l product|grep -i ignite

Version difference sometimes makes issues.
