Hi All,

I am new to this concept of Migration. Can anyone explain me the steps involved in a migration.

And what are the various options avaliable for Data/Application Migration.

Please throw light on Host-Based Migration.

how about telling us what apps / data? from what OS to what OS? From what platform to what platform?

2.Data Migration from a EVA 4100 to 8100

3.Host based migration procedure using veritas volume manager and how do we create mirroring of volumes at host level using VXVM

4.OS from 10.20 to 11.31

Are all 4 of these one migration or are you hunting for different options ?

1.HPUX PA-RISC to HP-UX Integrity. Buy new server, install, install supported version of application, test,test test.

2.Data Migration from a EVA 4100 to 8100
install eva8100, create luns, present to server, add to vgs, mirror to lvols with 4100. reduce 4100 from lvols, reduce 4100 from vg, unpresent 4100 luns.

3.Host based migration procedure using veritas volume manager and how do we create mirroring of volumes at host level using VXVM. Read the VXVM manual..

4.OS from 10.20 to 11.31. There is NO upgrade path. buy new server, cold install 11.31, move over or reinstall apps, test test test test.

Thanks a lot from the information provided.

Actually I have an Interview comming up when in they would ask about Migration.

So I was just wondering what they could ask.

As I am new to host based migration.. was just hunting for various options avaliable.

Could you add a few more to my bucket.

Would Appreciate you help.
