You don't mention what version of HP-UX you are running on the blades, so I'll assume 11iv2 or 11iv3.

You must buy the VPAR software. See info here:

http://h20392.www2.hp.com/portal/swdepot/displayProductInfo.do?productNumber=T1335BCE
http://h20392.www2.hp.com/portal/swdepot/displayProductInfo.do?productNumber=T1335CCE

Installation / documentation:
http://h20392.www2.hp.com/portal/swdepot/displayInstallInfo.do?productNumber=T1335BCE

However this is all moot because VPAR is NOT supported on the BL860C blades. Systems supported (taken from the link above):

HP 9000 (PA-RISC)

* rp5405 and rp5470/L3000
* rp7400/N4000
* rp7405, rp7410, rp7420, and rp7440
* rp8400, rp8420, and rp8440
* Superdome

HP Integrity (Intel® Itanium®)

* rx7620 and rx7640
* rx8620 and rx8640
* Integrity Superdome
Hi All,

I would like to create 2 vpars on my brand new blade BL860C.

I have done it on the other Integrity Servers.. but looks like on the Integrity Blades the procedure is different.

Could you walk me through the process. It would also be helpful if you can provide me some referance documents.

Also I would like to know the system requirements for creating vpars viz., any licenced s/w if necessary).

Thank you

What of the above is unclear?

VPAR is NOT SUPPORTED on a BL860C.

NPAR will not be supported either as NPAR requires a CELL BASED server, which the BL860 most certainly is NOT.

From http://h20392.www2.hp.com/portal/swdepot/displayInstallInfo.do?productNumber=T1335CCE

****
HP-UX Virtual Partitions (vPars) for HP-UX 11i v3 is now available for the following HP servers (firmware updates may be required).

HP 9000 (PA-RISC) servers:

* rp7405, rp7410, rp7420, and rp7440
* rp8400, rp8420, and rp8440
* Superdome

HP Integrity servers:

* rx7620 and rx7640
* rx8620 and rx8640
* Integrity Superdome
****

Notice that the BL860 is not listed.

OK, Integrity VM is a totally different product.

Documentation for it is available here:
http://docs.hp.com/en/oshpux11iv3.html#HP%20Integrity%20Virtual%20Machines

The "HP Integrity Virtual Machines Installation, Configuration, and Administration Version A.03.50" manual is probably a good place to start.

The Integrity VM software appears to be free and is available here:
http://h20392.www2.hp.com/portal/swdepot/displayProductInfo.do?productNumber=integrity_vm

There is also the HP Virtual Machines Manager, which is a GUI to manage your Integrity VM's. It is free and available here:
http://h20392.www2.hp.com/portal/swdepot/displayProductInfo.do?productNumber=VMMGR
