Login Problems

Hi All,
I created a new user and upon logon my .profile file is not processed. I have some environment variables set in the .profile and it does not show up when I print env. The odd thing is that if I do a telnet session, my environment is set, but when I log on through the login screen my environment is not set. Can someone please give me some pointers????

The account is set to run /usr/bin/sh.

hi,

If you are logging thru CDE and want your .profile to execute, edit the file $HOME/.dtprofile and uncomment the line DTSOURCEPROFILE=true. Remove the "#" . This line is at the bottom of the file $HOME/.dtprofile for that user.

What login screen are you talking about? Something like CDE??

I assume that you mean you are getting in through CDE when the problem occurs.

Put this in you .Xdefaults file and see how things go.

dtterm*loginShell: True
