Secure Path v3 Installation Error

Hi,

I am getting the error below when I try to install Secure Path V3.0F for an Active/Passive EVA 5000 with HP-UX 11iv2

ERROR: The "postinstall" script for "CPQswsp.driver" failed (exit
code "1"). The script location was
"/var/tmp/BAAa09059/catalog/CPQswsp/driver/postinstall".
* This script had errors and the execution of this fileset
cannot proceed until the problem is fixed. Check the above
output from the script for further details.
NOTE: The Install Phase has suspended. Check the above output for
reasons.

* Aborting the Install Phase.

Any ideas on what is the cause of this error?

Shalom,

First thing I'd check is the checksum on the depot to see if the download is complete.

IF you used ftp to transfer the file to your HP-UX system you may also have damaged the file. sftp from the openssh suite (filezilla) would be a better choice.

Also,

If you run this script manually (just like the message says) you may receive output with regards to the issue.
/var/tmp/BAAa09059/catalog/CPQswsp/driver/postinstall

I tried re-installing it, and this time it gave me an error on another fileset:

/var/tmp/BAAa09201/catalog/CPQswsp/driver/postinstall

When I tried to run this script, I got the error below:
sh: /var/tmp/BAAa09201/catalog/CPQswsp/driver/postinstall: not found.

Are any directories in that path present?
Does that postinstall script exist in the depot?

Turns out the error was due to a wrong SAN configuration - basically only the active path was visible to the OS. Once the passive path was also present in the configuration, the Secure Path was installed correctly.

So, it was really the same issue described in the HP Support document posted:

The problem encountered was that only one path to the EVA5000 active controller was present, and it was the secondary path to the LUN.
....
When the postinstall script does a vgdisplay -v to get the Physical Volume name for vg00, the Physical Volume is not there, causing the postinstall script to call the ERROR_EXIT function.
