Assalam-Alai-Kum Farhan,

Before jumping to any conclusion plz cross verify the basic things like:

1-Check the write protected button over the tape that might be preventing the tapedrive to write anything over the tape.

2- Use insf -eH h/wpath (sometimes it is beneficial to make device specialfiles using the H/W of the specific device instead for all the devices.

3-mt -f /dev/rmt/0mn stat (check status of the tape whether it is ok or not)

4- If it is external tape drive then plz check for Port Terminator is connected properly.Sometimes it also causes problem.

And at last but not least please try out with command line instead of using the SAM.

#fbackup -f /dev/rmt/0mn -v -u0g <GRAPH file="" path=""> -I indexfile

I have used this command once for testing whether this command is able to take the backup of multiple partition or not,we got success at that time.And since we used this command thru command line.
But we are usually taking backups using DataProtector.

--
Asif Khan
</GRAPH>
