      <title>Creating new mount points</title>

      <description>I have created a new volume on a NetApps systems and created the new volume group on my HP 11.11 machine. How do I determine what physical volume to use with the volume group. &lt;BR /&gt;There are other volume groups with physical volumes point to the NetApps machine. &lt;BR /&gt;Any help would be deeply appreciated.</description>

      <description>Hi Randy,&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Also please attach the strings /etc/lvmtab and the ioscan -fnCdisk.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Also you can do the following and attach the same.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;#for i in /etc/lvmconf/*.conf&lt;BR /&gt;&amp;gt;do&lt;BR /&gt;&amp;gt;echo $i;vgcfgrestore -l -f $i&lt;BR /&gt;&amp;gt;done&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;This would show something like this.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;# for i in /etc/lvmconf/*.conf&lt;BR /&gt;&amp;gt; do&lt;BR /&gt;&amp;gt; echo $i;vgcfgrestore -l -f $i&lt;BR /&gt;&amp;gt; done&lt;BR /&gt;/etc/lvmconf/vg00.conf&lt;BR /&gt;Volume Group Configuration information in "/etc/lvmconf/vg00.conf"&lt;BR /&gt;VG Name /dev/vg00&lt;BR /&gt; ---- Physical volumes : 1 ----&lt;BR /&gt;      /dev/rdisk/disk5_p2 (Bootable)&lt;BR /&gt;#&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Please attach the O/p, that shall be also helpful.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Regards&lt;BR /&gt;sujit</description>

      <description>Below are a few entries from the ioscan -fnCdisk command.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;disk 587 1/0/4/0/0.2.11.0.1.7.1 sdisk CLAIMED  DEVICE   NETAPP  LUN&lt;BR /&gt;      /dev/dsk/c46t7d1   /dev/rdsk/c46t7d1&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;disk 558 1/0/4/0/0.2.11.0.1.9.1 sdisk CLAIMED  DEVICE   NETAPP  LUN&lt;BR /&gt;      /dev/dsk/c46t9d1   /dev/rdsk/c46t9d1&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;these are the last 2 entries.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;I don't if this helps or not.</description>

      <description>I have found the physical volumes. Now when I do a &lt;BR /&gt;vgcreate /dev/vg*** /dev/dsk/c##t#d#&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;I get &lt;BR /&gt;IO error on Physical Volume device.</description>

      <description>If you are having those an an alternate path, then you could perform pvcreate on only one path.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;If not an alternate path, do pvcreate for all the PV's &lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Basically the controller will change if you view in the ioscan output&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;cxtydz&lt;BR /&gt;catydz&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Here dz is the disk which is referred by two contollers(cx and ca).. Both refer to the same disk.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;The best way is to finr out from the Storage software which you are using</description>

      <description>Hello randy,&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;you try &lt;BR /&gt;can you do quick look with SAM&lt;BR /&gt;do you remember your lun size ?&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;open SAM &amp;gt; disk &amp;amp; file system &amp;gt; Disk Devices &amp;gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;if you still not created any Pv with this lun it should show as unused. but you need to compare hardware path to make sure which lun belongs to which HDD in your hpux server. &lt;BR /&gt;</description>
