- Where to get software ?

well rsnapshot is written entirely in perl, and is therefore interpreted rather than a binary, so just get the generic UNIX download from rsnapshot.org and give it a try (you should have Perl on your system already...)

if you want to use the snapshot features, you can also use fsadm.

- in attached file, the setup steps and results.
- the cron run correctly and creat hourly.0, 1, 2 etc.. but empty.

I guess you haven't installed the rsync runtime dependencies - see here:

Install gettext libiconv and popt

huh? you said you had rsync installed...

anyway can that install and just try restarting swagentd

/usr/sbin/swagentd -r

Then try again...

I upgrade rsync 2.xx to 3.0.5.
(some prob in /etc/hosts)
