Service guar 11.19 install from tar file

I have downloaded service guard sw product 11.19 for HP_UX 11.31 from HP DSPP (Developer & solution partner program) web site.

The file downloaded is a tar file, not depot file: Serviceguard-11.31-A.11.19.00sw.tar

How can I to install serviceguard tar file ?

Swinstall need a depot file.

Did you try swinstall already? The sw tools don't care about the file prefix, so try this or have a look inside the tar.

Shalom,

I would only use SG from a depot file provided by HP software.

tar -tvf the tar file, maybe there is a depot in there.

Hi:

.depot is a tar format. You have 2 ways:

1) tar -xvf in a directory
1.1) swreg -l depot
1.2 swinstall -s

other way:
rename tar file as .depot and make a swreg -l depot
swinstall the file .depot

Hi,

Did you tried to untar the file?.
# tar -xvf Serviceguard-11.31-A.11.19.00sw.tar

This will give you the depot file, from which you can start the swinstall session.

If ur getting any error, try to download the file in depot format itself.

I have exucuted:
1)rename .tar file in .depot file
2)swinstall

Installation OK

How do you know? You should use swlist to check:
swlist -s $PWD/Serviceguard-11.31-A.11.19.00sw.tar

Internally a tape depot looks like a tar file. The depot may also be named as .tar since some browsers don't know what to do with .depot.

Ack, don't do that! The proper command is swcopy to create (and register) a directory depot.
