Hi,

Oneway to find the free LUNS is take the #ioscan -fnC disk |grep dsk and compare with #strings /etc/lvmtab output.

If disk is not there in lvmtab file means it is free. Note that if the vg is exported then also disk entry will not be there in lvmtab file

Shalom,

insf -C disk

ioscan -fnC disk

Now you can create a volume group. I recommend the -p parameter the number of physical volumes so that you can maximize the number of disks and storage in the volume group.

SEP

Hi,

1) Checking LUNs
You can check the LUN's with,

#ioscan -funC disk
==> It will give all the disks available on the system.
You can identify the LUNs by looking on the output,
note that LUNs may have multiple paths.

2) what LUNs are free ?
Check the below command outputs for the LUNs

#vgdisplay -v|grep PV

#strings /etc/lvmtab

#pvdisplay -v <LUN block="" device="" file="">

3) how can i use them to create new vg

Use normal procedure o create new VG,
Note that if LUN has Multiple paths, add them to the new VG;I mean add PV links.

Reagrds,
LIJEESH N G</LUN>
