I have the Ignite server on a Integrity Blade server with the following Ignite doc...

How to take an ignite image...

Hi,

For making ignite image.

>>If You wana take ignite image through net then.

#cd /opt/ignite/bin

#make_net_recovery -v -s igniteserver -x inc_entire=vg00 -x exclude=

>>If you are taking image on tape then

1]Connect the tape drive properly to scsi of server,

2]Run #ioscan -fnC tape
<<
3]# mt -f
Ex. #mt -f /dev/rmt/0mn rewind

4]Run the script to fire ignite backup

#/opt/iginite/bin/make_tape_recovery -AIv -a

For recovering the image .

1]Make sure that new blade server is in the network of ignite server.

Then intrrupt the boot process
select the proper boot device ex.Tape/net

Create a golden image of this blade.
Make necessarry config files.
Update INDEX.
Update the new ade MAC.
Boot the new blade from this ignite server.

With the info. given I would be able to do it from same OS to same OS...

I have two different seens here...

1. 11.31 to 11.31 from which I can Use your Advise

2. 11.11 to 11.23 ----> How can I do it here..

How do I do this when I have two different versions of OS Involved..

like I have to take image from 11.11 and recover it on 11.23 ...

Is there a way to do this.. IF so how can I do this...

I am surprised or I am confused.

May I request you to clear What you mean by
"like I have to take image from 11.11 and recover it on 11.23 ..."

You can alwaz keep installation image of different OSs on same server and you can do pull installation from the clients.

I am also little confused here...

I have a server running applications on 11.11 and I have to make it virtual on 11.23..

My options are....

If Possible do it in the ARIES mode or forklift it...

But in any case.. how do I take an Ignite Image here and I do not know the terminology .. use it on the other server..
