Server Move

I have one more server Move comming up tomorrow... i.e.. forklift a server from A to B... Here the IP address are going to change..

At location B it will have a different IP from Location A.. It will take at least 4 days to ship it to new place..

Things to do at A(Two copies of the following):
------------------
# cd /opt/ignite/bin
# make_recovery -C

I will also collect the following:-

/etc/rc.config.d/netconf
/etc/hosts
/etc/rc.config.d/nfsconfig

What are the other things I should do at Location A...

I know Ignite Image is only to recover VG00 in the event if needed to recover the data..
So what all should I do or take apart from Ignite Image to forklift a server...

Now what all should I do at location A before I bring the server down .. and what all should I do at location B before and after I bring the server UP...

Plz advise.. I have 3 servers to forklift

Hi,

I would suggest you to take Ignite image ( make_recovery is very old and no more supported).

2. Full back up of all data

3. If your storage is external take vg cofiguration to a mapfile in preview mode. and vgcfgbackup aslo.

You say:

You should know: If you shut down the databases, Ignite can migrate them as well. I've done it.

If however the data is on shared storage its better not to use Ignite to migrate the data.

Cai I do it usinbg cpio or plz suggest me the best way to do it.. I have my own storage to take backup.. eva's to be presice..

the storage for some of the servers is external and for some internal... plz suggest
[If possible could you take some time to give me a step by step process plz.. As this is my first migration.. a bit worried..]

I have applications running on this server and the database running on a different server... please suggest .... If I shut down the databases,how can I use Ignite to migrate them as well...

I have only used Ignite to Install OS's accross network...
