Hi:

You can 'lvextend' the logical volume all day long, but until you expand/extend the _filesystem_ within you will not see your additional space when you mount the filesystem.

If you have OnlineJFS, you can 'fsadm' the filesystem online. Otherwise, unmount the filesystem and use 'extendfs'. See the manpages.

Regards!

...JRF...

exactly what J R F says. I attached a real example , I extended /home directory/FS :

# lvextend -L 522 /dev/vg00/lvol4 /dev/dsk/c3t5d
Warning: rounding up logical volume size to extent boundary at size "528" MB.
Logical volume "/dev/vg00/lvol4" has been successfully extended.
Volume Group configuration for /dev/vg00 has been saved in /etc/lvmconf/vg00.con
f
# umount /home
# extendfs /dev/vg00/rlvol4
# mount /home
# bdf /home
Hi,
After lvextend you need to apply these command extendfs or fsadm .

see the example in man page of lvextend

Suraj

Hi himacs,

This is a warning that lvm will extend the lvol to the next multiple you specified in relation to the PE size. The default size of PE is 4MB.

You can extend mounted VxFS file systems using the fsadm command if onlineJFS is installed.

http://docs.hp.com/en/5971-4772/apas07.html

Regards,
Asif Sharif
