      <description>very easy way to you:&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;hostname OR&lt;BR /&gt;getip &lt;SERVER name=""&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;note that IP or hostname&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;then &lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;ftp &lt;HOSTNAME&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;if you get ftp prompt it is working:&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;ftp&amp;gt;&lt;/HOSTNAME&gt;&lt;/SERVER&gt;</description>

As&lt;BR /&gt;usual, showing an actual command with its&lt;BR /&gt;actual output can be more helpful than a&lt;BR /&gt;vague description or interpretation.</description>

      <description>&amp;gt;&amp;gt;one of my server is FTP is working &lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Does this mean you can use FTP to log INTO this server?  If so, the FTP is definitely enabled somewhere.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Or does this mean you can FTP to another server from this one?  If this is the case there's not a whole lot you can do as FTP from a server can be difficult to control.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&amp;gt;&amp;gt;but entry is not there in inetd.conf&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;There could be a separate process that runs FTP.  It is possible that you have an FTP Daemon running all the time that is not controlled by inetd.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;# ps -ef |grep -i ftp&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;may show the process if it is running all the time.</description>
