FC tape drive to a VPAR

I just zoned FC atached tape drives to the FC used by a VPAR host. When i did ioscan, the device did not show up? Any other procedure to do for VPAR to see the new tape drives?

VPAR or not, this doesn't matter here.
Check if your zoning is correct and active (!), if not already done, include the stape driver into the kernel.

Shalom,

stape should be in all vpars so you can if you need move the tape drive from system to system.

Some of this depends on your vpar software version.

3.x you can move cpu's vpars up, but memory you need to down the vpar.

I think its the same thing for tape drives.

Getting the stape driver in the kernel does require a vpar boot. What is the OS of the vpar?

Check if you have stape drive enabled on the system,
# kcmodule | grep -i tape

- If not you can add using SAM or kcweb. To reboot and check.

- What is the model of the server. If it is a PA-RISC server check out the below information:

you may experince problem if your FC card is not campatible , (with PA-RISC server)
- There is also known problem booting vpar from FC tape drive on PA-RISC server.
- You can check the supported FC adapter if you are using PA-RISC server:

Tape drives should be always visible if configured correctly.
Bootable or not depends on the vPars version - but this is not the question here.

If you see a UNCLAIMED device, you need to add the driver. If you don't see the device, there is something wrong with zoning or connection.
