      <description>Hi All&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;In HPUX 11.31, inetd services like ftp, rlogin and swat is not working but telnet is working.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;My /etc/inetd.conf&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;telnet       stream tcp6 nowait root /usr/lbin/telnetd  telnetd&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;ftp          stream tcp6 nowait root /usr/lbin/ftpd     ftpd -l&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;login        stream tcp6 nowait root /usr/lbin/rlogind  rlogind&lt;BR /&gt;shell        stream tcp6 nowait root /usr/lbin/remshd   remshd&lt;BR /&gt;exec         stream tcp6 nowait root /usr/lbin/rexecd   rexecd&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;swat    stream tcp   nowait.400 root /opt/samba/bin/swat swat&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;I am not use telnet but not able to use others.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;I restarted inetd like below&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;step1:&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;#/sbin/init.d/inetd stop&lt;BR /&gt;#/sbin/init.d/inetd start&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;step2:&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;#inetd -c&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;even after all this, i am not able to use ftp, rlogin and swat.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;How to solve this.&lt;BR /&gt;</description>

      <description>What exactly is happening?  What happens when you try to ftp to this server?  What error(s) do you get?&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Actual errors that occur would be VERY HELPFUL in trying to troubleshoot this.</description>

      <description>&lt;!--!*#--&gt;As usual, showing actual commands with their&lt;BR /&gt;actual output can be more helpful than vague&lt;BR /&gt;descriptions ("i am not able to use") and&lt;BR /&gt;interpretations.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Is the HP-UX system the server here?  What is&lt;BR /&gt;the client system?  How much network&lt;BR /&gt;equipment lies between the client and the&lt;BR /&gt;server?&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Can you do, say, FTP from the HP-UX system to&lt;BR /&gt;itself?  rlogin?</description>

      <description>do you have tcp6 running? if not please remove this wordt form the configuration?&lt;BR /&gt;if this works is depening on you os type&lt;BR /&gt;please post a uname -r whit your questions that can help a lot in the correct and quick solutions.</description>

      <description>change the lines in:&lt;BR /&gt;ftp          stream tcp nowait root /usr/lbin/ftpd      ftpd -l -v&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;login        stream tcp nowait root /usr/lbin/rlogind  rlogind&lt;BR /&gt;shell        stream tcp nowait root /usr/lbin/remshd   remshd&lt;BR /&gt;exec         stream tcp nowait root /usr/lbin/rexecd   rexecd&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;run inet -c&lt;BR /&gt;check if inetd is running &lt;BR /&gt;ps telnet can be working du to a telnetd deamon outside inetd.&lt;BR /&gt;check your syslog.conf on erors from the inetd -c&lt;BR /&gt;</description>
