file /usr/lib/libc.2 is gone

Team,

I have come accross a system that has had /usr/lib/libc.2.

The file is backed up and I need to restore it, but the cp, ls, ln commands do not work.

I tried booting into single user mode...but same thing.

Any other ideas of how to copy the file back into place or fix this?

Sorry if it is unclear, but the file was moved to another name...or deleted.

I just need to cp newfilename to /usr/lib/libc.2.
but, i am having a hardtime as the commands do not work

Try using commands from the /sbin directory as these do not require external libraries.

/sbin/mv
/sbin/ls
etc.
