Shalom,

Not exactly straightforward it seems:
root@hpvmhst1:/root # hpvmstatus -D -P winlab1
[Virtual Machine Details]
Virtual Machine Name VM # OS Type State
==================== ===== ======= ========
winlab1                 11 WINDOWS On (OS)

[Authorized Administrators]
Oper Groups:
Admin Groups:
Oper Users:
Admin Users:

[Virtual CPU Details]
#vCPUs Entitlement Maximum
====== =========== =======
1       10.0%  100.0%

[Memory Details]
Total    Reserved
Memory   Memory
=======  ========
8 GB     64 MB

[Storage Interface Details]
Guest                                 Physical
Device Adaptor Bus Dev Ftn Tgt Lun Storage Device
======= ========== === === === === === ========= =========================
disk    scsi         0   0   0   0   0 lv        /dev/vg_01/rlvol2
dvd     scsi         0   0   0   1   0 file      /var/opt/hpvm/ISO-images/windows/SW_DVD5_Windows_Svr_Ent_2003_R2_64Bit_IA64_English_IA_64_DVD_MLF_X13-50179.ISO

[Network Interface Details]
Interface Adaptor Name/Num PortNum Bus Dev Ftn Mac Address
========= ========== ========== ======= === === === =================
vswitch   lan        landem     3         0   1   0 02-76-8c-a6-4e-1a

[Misc Interface Details]
Guest                                 Physical
Device Adaptor Bus Dev Ftn Tgt Lun Storage Device
======= ========== === === === === === ========= =========================
serial  com1                           tty       console

Now if you look at the logical volume assigned to the system and then go to the host OS you can from ioscan output and fcmsutil show what is attached.

Then you look at the vgdisplay output and you can figure out what fiber card is being used.

However guests do not get exclusive access to the fiber cards. They get access to resources given to them by the hpvm manager.

It is quite possible to take two luns off the same fiber card and assign them to two virtual guests.

SEP

I think fc is not assigned to Virtual host, its just disks which are assigned.
So you would not be able to get any status of fc from ioscan in guest.

Remember when you create a new VM you don assign fc card anywhere :)

BR,
Kapil+
from what I understand, all cards chanell Host fiber can be used for any virtual machine???

The problem is this: be assigned to discs from the SAM VMHost and then assign them to the Virtual Machine. I need to know that fiber card uses the Virtual Machine.

Yes, my Operation System is 11.23 HP-UX
