Hi (again):

> the file system /opt contain: /opt/aplication1, /opt/aplication2, /opt/aplication3

In that case, if these directories contain volatile data files, those files should be in '/var/opt'. If the application doesn't allow the placement of these during installation, simply create your own symlinks to '/var/opt'.

Regards!

...JRF...
Which ones have you got?

Really, it's pretty hard for us to answer that question without a lot of knowledge about your system, what it's used for, how it's set up, etc., etc. Without that sort of knowledge we really can't offer anything more than wild guesses.

Pete

Hi Eli:

The '/opt' filesystem should be quite static, growing principally as optional software is added. To shrink the utilization you would need to consider 'swremove'-ing products you know you will never use.

Regards!

...JRF...

two options: (other than to deleting files randomly that we know nothing about.)

1-add disk to vg00, extend /opt

2-move application 1,2,3 to different vg and lv.

If you have Online-JFS then #1 will not require downtime, if not then schedule some.

I recommend #2, although /opt is a great place for optional software, if the software requires alot of disk space then locate it on its own disk outside of vg00(it can still be a /opt/mountpoint. keep vg00 as small as possible for simplified DR.
