Paul, like Michael said, check the cables and terminators, and when in doubt THROW IT OUT. Terminators can fail, and cables can fail, even though they aren't moved around a lot. Another possible cause: the scsi card.

Another thing, with your CD, are there any mounts on it when you are doing your backups?

live free or die
harry

We been having an issue whereby when an fbackup is run overnight there is an error in the syslog relating to an error on the CDROM, although the backup is to /dev/rmt/0m.
The two hardware paths are
8/16/5.0.0 (/dev/rmt/0m)
8/16/5.2.0 /dev/dsk/c1t2d0 (DVD-ROM 305)

The fbackup command is...
fbackup -v -g graphfile -f /dev/rmt/0m

When the lbolt is received
Jan 26 03:05:36 es760_1 vmunix: SCSI: Late REQ for command phase -- lbolt: 27693
283, dev: cb012000

I was thinking there maybe something wrong with the SCSI bus ?? We have replaced the tape drive and the CDROM. Anyone have any ideas as this is still happeining and we are at a loss.

Hi,

You could check that any cables coming from the SCSI BUS are terminated correctly. You could also attempt to check the card by using the 'mstm' utility. If that doesn't work I'd get HP to replace the card if you have a support contract.

-Michael

THe CD ROM is not im fstab so would not be mounted, I assume this is what you were reffering to ?? It will be hard to check cables as the server is in another country, will perhaps ask for HP technician to attend site.
