Hi all,
We'll be looking into the loooong process of upgrading our servers (rp4440, rp3440, rp7410 L3000-8x) from 11.11 to 11.31.
I understand that one cannot upgrade directly from 11.11 to 11.31. So the choices are:
1) Upgrade from 11.11 to 11.23 then from 11.23 to 11.31.
2) Rip out 11.11 and do a 11.31 cold install.

Question are...what is the "preferred" method? Why/Why not? My preference would be for something "streamlined" and as painless as humanly possible, where I don't have to reinvent the wheel and reconfigure everything so I'm guessing option 1...but you folks are the experts so I defer to you.

Thanks for any help.

Mauro

I would always prefer option 2 any day or cold install over update_ux. Too many possible problems with approach 1. If you are looking for painless process, Option 2 is your "option"
Check the threads in the forum as this has been discussed many times as well. :)

Yeah...well bummer, I'll have to leave the L3000-8x as is. This is a development (test) server anyway. I'll have to search the forum for a list of supported servers. Thanks for the info.

Mauro

I would go for cold install too, but how much configuration difference is there between your servers ?

Maybe you can cold install 1 server, configure it as you need, and then take an Ignite backup of this server and use this backup to "install" your other servers. This saves you a lot of manual configurations on the other servers, as all of that will already be included in the Ignite backup.
