Mount your NFS with llock or nlock

Dear ALL,

Our DBA Team has requested to mount the NFS mount point with llock or nlock option.
This is recommended by Oracle team.
" And you can also mount your NFS with llock or nlock if you are not using same mount point for database.. You need check with your vendor for valid llock or nlock command".

Details:
OS : B.11.23

Please advice on this ASAP.

The wording is confusing. It says "mount your NFS with llock or nlock if you are not using same mount point for database."

Is it trying to say if this filesystem isn't used for a database it safe to use ilock?

I don't understand how Oracle can say anything about some filesystem that doesn't even have Oracle files on it?

Or is Oracle saying that that ilock is ok for certain types of Oracle files? So what type of files are on this FS?

ilock says locking is done locally. mount_nfs(1M)

Hi

the fs contain /APPL_TOP (application binaries) the DB mount point is on different fs.
Oracle recommending to mount fs with llock or nlock. its not ilock.
I didnt came acroos such option till now. if any one has faced kindly let me now.
pls confirm any more info required.

I'm not sure why anyone would bother to lock files that are application binaries?

(Sorry, that was a typo for llock.)

The above man page mentions the llock option. Just add that option to /etc/fstab.
