Probably a daft question but....
Yesterday the root disk was mirrored using MirrorDisk on one of the DR boxes. Now when you do a bdf it shows:
Filesystem kbytes used avail %used Mounted on
/dev/root 143360 26106 109962 19% /
rather than
/dev/vg00/lvol3
Can anyone explain why and if this is going to cause any problems

Cheers

Hi,

You can fix it by performing the following:

# rm /etc/mnttab
# mount -a

However, because /dev/root when the actual device file /dev/vg00/lvol3 cannt be found, your LVM configuration may not be correct. It can be caused by a mirror'ing mistake.

Verify your boot configuration by performing the following:

# lvlnboot -v
# vgdisplay -v vg00

Hope this helps. Regards.

Steven Sim Kok Leong

Thanks, re-creating the mnttab worked ok.

Any idea where the 'mirroring mistake' may have occurred?

Hi Keely:

One way to find yourself with /dev/root in /etc/mnttab is to go into LVM maintenance mode and then reboot.

Regards!

...JRF...

Hi Keely,

There's a number or threads about /dev/root in the forums. It'd be worth you time to go to http://search.hp.com/ and search for /dev/root.

Darrell
