Could you give a little more information into your 'wee' network? Is it your own closed/private network, or is it part of a bigger network?

OK, on your server, did you edit the /etc/hosts file and add the IP and name info of your laptop for resolution?

Just a thought,
Rita
Greetings from sunny Baghdad!!

I have an rx7640, fresh out of the box with 11.31. I setup a wee network between the system, the mp, and my laptop. I wish to launch smh, but when I put in the browser: 10.128.11.1:2301, I get nothing.

Oh...I can ping the server from my laptop, but not my laptop from the server.

Any ideas?

Could you just use the old sam?

We don't use smh, as I really am used to the old sam (tui).

You may have to unset DISPLAY first, then run sam.

"Old SAM" is no longer there in 11.31, but smh has a text based interface, just run "smh" or even "sam" from your session.

Some browsers need the "http://" in front of the IP; please try this. Check also for a firewall on the PC that blocks the communication (like ping).

Andy,

I too am not a great fan of SMH, but SAM will be obsolesced out, and on 11.31 SAM has been somewhat trimmed of some of the full utilities.
Hate to say it, but eventually we will all have to adapt to SMH.
Of course, I mean SMH and thank goodness for command line, cause you can't always change a parm value using SMH!

Regards,
Rita
