SAM initialisation hangs for command line sam process

Hi,

whenever i start sam from the command line as user root in an hpterm, the session hangs for more than 30 minutes until i kill sam processes from another terminal.

I am using HP-UX 11.0 with Patch PHCO_23876.

Sam has been reinstalled with swinstall Options

[ ] Autoselect dependencies when marking
software

[X] Reinstall filesets even if same
revision exists

and Autoselect dependencies set to [X] also.

No success.

Patches PHCO_21187 and PHCO_23876 were installed with reinstall options as well, no success.

Swverify did not show software corruptions or not configured software.

SAMLOG file shows

Executing the pre-condition command for "Monitor Configuration" to determine
if it should be listed in SAM's list of areas.

What output of setmon :

Installed Xserver Patch :

Did anybody experience this as well ?

Hi Thomas,

Do you have any problems with the network configurations ? Any disk arrays ? Also can you invoke SAM from the console ?

Hi Thomas,

This could happen when you have troubles with NFS.

Try to have a look on the system console for NFS error messages !

Were you able to get SAM working at all in the command line?? What is the message in the /var/sam/log/samlog file?

Does it work in the GUI mode??

sam not, any idea please ?

It seems also HP-UX Support can not solve this problem.

Hi all,

deleting lock files : didnt help

stopping NIS and NIS+ : didnt help

Patch for NIS+ PHNE_17200 addresses SAM hang w/ NIS+ at 11.0 is NOT installed yet.

More after the installation.
