NIS issue

Hi all,

I have a issue with NIS client. Both NIS server and NIS clients are running HP-UX 11.11

When I try to login on NIS client using NIS user id, it is not accepting/recognizing the nis user id. It keep asking the password.

But if I login through su - command, on the same machine I am able login. Where could be the issue ?

To be sure about nis master, same user id is working on another NIS client. So i thinks NIS master is perfectly ok.

on the client, /etc/nsswitch.conf is having this entry.
passwd: files nis
group: files nis

Your help would be greatly appreciated.

If you are using pam, check pam configuration file and it's permission.

It was due to /etc/shadow file. User entries are present in shadow file which cause the issue.
