hp-ux os problem...

hello,

my server internal dvd writer cant detect hp-ux OS dvd to be install(original & coppy one)....the server doesnt have any hardware problem as i think but it can detect any other bootable dvd ...dont know wt is the problem ....would you guys please help me....thx...

Can you please tell the model of the server and the OS version?

Please attach an "ioscan -fn".

As your server detect other bootable media, probable cause would be the HP-UX OE media might be corrupt.

What's the model of of the server?

If you can detect any other DVD but not the install DVD, most likely this media has a problem and you need another, good media.

Maybe you need replace DVD unit !!

The other maybe your media DVD are in Double Cap!!

Hi There,

it looks like hardware problem with your DVD drive. Eject the drive, and u will be able to see the lens inside, use cotton and clean the lens. Then try to reboot the system with Install media. Still the problem persists, replace the DVD drive.

but many times i used external dvd writtr .....but still same problm accr....!!!!!!!!! is there any command that shows problems...???

While the system is up? Or when you are trying to boot?

Oh, what OE media version are you trying to install?

I assume that when you say the DVD is not bootable that means you are not seeing the appropriate "fsX" entry in the map command output at the EFI Shell?
