Etienne,

What was the date on your install disks? If it's not Dec 2001, then you probably need to apply some patches.

live free or die
harry

I have a current problem with vxfsd on one of my new HP servers.
We installed this server last week. It is an RP5470 with 2 CPU???s
(9000/800/L3000-6x)
It is running HP_UX B.11.11 64 Bit
I configured the mirror root disk yesterday and this morning when I arrived in the office
The reporting software I used showed the system with an uptime load average of between 4.6 and 6.9
I had a look at Top and noticed that vxfsd was hammering the system it had a utilization of 2.4 and 3.1 respectively. This is odd as the system is not live yet and I was the only user on this server. I had to reboot the server and the utilization went then down to 0.31 and 0.31 with an uptime load average of .55. What will cause this and is there patches for this?

If you are sure the problems is with vxfsd you could install patch PHKL_24783 which
resolves a problem with the vxfs_inode cache being to large and having vxfsd taking a lot of CPU time.

I would recommend first reading the text file of the patch.

If it is only a problem with top displaying high system load when system is idle you could install patch PHKL_24551 which resolves that problem.
