I am trying to boot a BL860c that has HP-UX 11.31 installed on it in order to erase all the data. I am using the Virtual Media setup on the iLO 2 to connect to the image on my PC to boot from. But I when I select "iLO Virtual Media" I get :

Load of iLO Virtual Media failed: Not Found.

Have tried linux ios image, smartstart iso image, dban iso and killdisk iso image.

What am I missing here? Is there a doc that describes how to boot virtual media in EFI?

And why does a BL860c have EFI and BL460 have a BIOS?? The BL460s boot with Virtual Media okay.

This is a first time for me on these BL860s with EFI, so be kind.

The BL860c is an Integrity server (aka ia64), this something totally different compared to x86 or x64.

You need a special boot medium for ia64 (Itanium)!

Consider to put the disk in a proliant and use the media you already have to delete the disk contents!

I would consider moving the disk. But it is at a remote site.

Maybe someone at the remote side can move the disk for you?

Otherwise consider to boot the install media, start the recovery shell and delete the disk from there by writing some random data to it or just do a cold install of a fresh OS.

Dang. I went from one doc about vMedia that had, see this doc about booting vMedia and that doc had, see doc about vMedia and see this doc to HP web site which lead to nowhere for vMedia boot on ia64 hp server BL860c. ??? Does anyone know where the docs are for booting/installing hpux on ia64 hp server BL860c with vMedia. I have a bootable hpux cd in my pc but can't select it with vMedia. It's just a directory.

What I have been able to figure out, I believe, is that I need an iso image for ia64 not x86 in order for EFI Boot Manger to boot it with iLO Virutal Media choice.

Does anyone know where to get iso images for hpux, killdisk, dban, other for ia64 hp server BL860c? Or some kind of software I can boot with to clean the drives.

vmedia needs an iso file or a physical dvd/cd to work with.

Put an install hp-ux dvd in your pc, present it and boot from to cold install the system.

There are some ia64 linux boot images around, search the web.

I did try an HP-UX 11i Version 2 June 2008 Core OS Install and Recovery DVD in my PC. But what do I select in the folder to share out to vMedia as a boot image? There is no .iso file on the DVD to select.

I also searched the net for a HPUX iso image and could not find anything.
