The only processors on which a 32-bit version of an HP-UX kernel are supported are the PA 1.1 CPUs, and the PA-8000 and PA-8200 PA 2.0 CPUs. Anything with a PA-8500 or later (such as the L3000) only runs a 64-bit kernel.

Hi all,

I've been asked to install the 32 bit version of 11i on a HP L3000. I;ve tried running the install, but i only have an option for 64 Bit.

Can someone tell me if what I'm trying to do is possible or not?...if so, how?

Many Thanks

Shalom,

If the processor will run either, as is the case with certain D and K class boxes, you will get an option.

This system won't run in 32 bit mode, therefore the installation does not present you with that option.

SEP

Hi Nigel:

If your applications are 32-bit ones, they will still run on a 64-bit operating system. You should not see any perceptible performance difference between a 32-bit and a 64-bit machine in this case.

Regards!

...JRF...
