    <description>Hmmmm..... Well obviously ypbind hasn't started yet.  But you knew that already.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Are you sure all the yp services are running on the server?  You might try stopping and restarting them if possible.</description>

      <title>ypbind daemon hangs..</title>

      <description>Hey everyone I am working with nis .. not nis+ ..&lt;BR /&gt;on my nis server with i try to start up the nis client&lt;BR /&gt;/sbin/init.d/nis.client start&lt;BR /&gt;it is hanging on &lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;    starting up the Network Information Service&lt;BR /&gt;        starting up the ypbind daemon&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;It just sit there. Any ideas of what I can check?&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;thanks&lt;BR /&gt;Richard</description>

      <description>Sounds like it's not binding to the server.  If you open up another session and do a 'ypwhich' does it show that it is bound to the NIS server?&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;If not you may need to specify the server to bind to in nis startup config file.</description>

      <description>Hi Richard:&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;As a guess, I would say that your NIS server is failing and thus the client (in this case the same server) can't bind. I trust that you have configured an nis slave server so that this doesn't impact your entire domain. You should set NIS_MAXCHECKS=2 (or 3) so that it will give up after a time.</description>

      <description>WOW New cool hats !!&lt;BR /&gt;ypwhich&lt;BR /&gt;ypwhich: lvadm02 is not running ypbind&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;And clay this is not a live system i am just testing between 2 servers. So i was not going to create a slave. &lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Richard</description>

      <description>I can think of 2 things. Is your broadcast address correct ? Do you have /var/yp/secureservers setup and if yes check the syntax ?</description>
